You'll see smart creations that were made by up-cycling old materials, giving them a second life.

Undergraduate program launch in Shanghai

In collaboration with the Chinese DeTao Group Belgian designer Dirk Wynants started a design studio at the campus of the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts, next to his main studio in Belgium. The Shanghai based studio also acts as an educational platform. At the beginning of the academic year 20 students were selected after a 2 day entry exam.

12.2013 dirk wynants' giant beer pong tournament, dwdw shanghai

As part of a monthly team building program of the DeTao academy, dwdw Shanghai organized the "Dirk Wynants' Giant Beer Pong Tournament". Our giant, 8 meter long Extremis Marina table was the perfect platform for this team game. Also the Extremis Captain chairs on wheels were involved in the game. As you can see in the pictures, the event was a big success.

Business of Design Week is one of Asia's biggest network platforms for the creative industry. Dirk Wynants and his company Extremis were one of the most important guests in Hongkong, since Belgium was the guest country for this edition. We even had our queen visiting our booth and trying our furniture. Here you will find an interview Dirk gave during the fair.

09.2013 full house for the shanghai studio lift-off

2013 is an important year for our Studio: a sister studio of DWDW was founded at Shanghai. This studio is also the educational platform for Dirk Wynant’s Master Class for Durable Product Design. A lot of students attended the first introduction workshop. Theme of the workshop was to design office extensions for the existing Marina table for Extremis.
